Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird CREEPSMAS Art, Craft & Gift Show November 8-9 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA. Over 170 weird-o artists and vendors, free admission, free parking, hundreds of door prizes, jugglers, food trucks, your chance to fight a dude in a wheelchair, costume contests, dead things, live things, weird things… you gotta come join us!

We have a long standing tradition of trying to find a local show once a year where we can try and rehome some of the toys that were donated to Captain Slinky over the years for the purpose of creating art. We need to give these toys a chance to be TOYS one last time before we make them into art, otherwise we might end up like the character of “Sid” from the Toy Story movies!

This year, our show of choice is The Washington State SummerCon in Puyallup, WA! Come find us in The Centennial Tent (near the SummerCon Merch Booth) and we’ll make sure you go home with something fun! And while you’re there you could pick up one of our Chad Scheres Oddmall T-Shirts!

Applications took SO MUCH LONGER than I expected this year! The flood of applications all at once knocked everything out of whack, and I suddenly found myself having to narrow down some bazillion applications to just the 170 weirdest, most awesome ones. I had to deny SO MANY APPLICATIONS!!! It hurts SO BAD, because each and every application I KNOW is somebody’s dream! Somebody looking for validation that THEIR art, the thing THEY do, is somehow valid and appreciated… and here I come with my big old “You’re Not Worthy” Hammer to bust their dreams into a billion pieces.

I hated that feeling, back when I was a struggling artist applying to every show I could and looking for that validation. It would ruin my life for WEEKS. “Why don’t they think I’m good enough? I guess I’m not… the only people who like my art are friends and relatives who are just trying to be nice. I should just give up.”

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!!! If you received a rejection from us and you’re feeling terrible, PLEASE feel free to reach out to me, Captain Slinky, at our official email address of csoddmall@gmail.com and I’ll give you as much personal feedback as I can about why you may have been rejected, plus advice/tips on how I feel you might be able to have a better chance next time?

5/16/2025 – THE GOOD NEWS is that we can now get back to approving applications for the next Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird CREEPSMAS 2025 Art, Craft & Gift Show November 8-9 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA! THE BAD NEWS is that we have to do it all by hand, so it’s going to be a bit… slower. I know, I know… I hear you say “But Cap’n! The only way you could possibly go any slower would be to travel BACKWARDS THROUGH TIME! Slower than ZERO is a NEGATIVE NUMBER!”\

There’s an asterix up there by “Winners” because I goofed – ends up there was no way to reset the high scores on our games, and very little chance that anybody would have been able to bust into the Top 10 High Scores of the past 30-40 years. So we raffled it! We got our our dice (the Captain Slinky Family has A LOT of dice) and rolled till we had 8 different entries selected, one for each prize! We’ve already had one of the emails bounce back as undeliverable, the person who chose “DOG” as their initials. So if you registered as that, let us know!

Thank you all for a great event! I did some crazy things with our advertising this time around and it seems to have worked – we had an estimated 4.500 people come through the doors at Oddmall last weekend – and INCREDIBLE turnout for a springtime craft show! So how did you know to come to Oddmall?

Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird welcomes Local Oddmall Artist and, coincidentally enough, Ms. Wheelchair NorthWestern USA Giusiana Prosser all this weekend at the Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird SPRUNG! Art, Craft & Retro Arcade Challenge March 29-30 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA! Pictured here (she’s the one on the right), Giusiana will be on hand advocating rare disease awareness and pausing for pictures as time permits! She’s out there each and every day, fighting for all of us with “Invisible Disabilities” that make doctors say stuff like “It’s All In Your Head” and “Have you considered losing some weight” as a diagnosis. When you see her, stop her and tell her thanks!”
