ODDMALL “SPRUNG 2” NOW FEATURING 100% FREE PARKING!!!

GREAT NEWS! We just got word from The Fairgrounds that the event which HAD been planning on charging for on-grounds parking on Saturday (because they don’t love you like Captain Slinky loves you) has decided AGAINST CHARGING FOR PARKING!!!

ALL THE PARKING AT THE FAIRGROUNDS IS NOW FREE! Not just our little “Yellow Lot”! This means we can have right-at-the-building ADA Parking!

Let me tell ya, I was NOT looking forward to fielding a slew of complaints from folks who felt duped by our claims of Free Parking for our event only to find it was just one specific parking lot! Like, I could feel it… it…

So! Now that ALLLLLLL the parking is free, you REALLY need to come on down to the Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird “SPRUNG 2” Art, Craft, Gift & Gaming Show April 29-30 at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA!

ODD PRIZES!

Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird Art, Craft, Gift & Gaming Show is THIS COMING WEEKEND (Saturday April 29 and Sunday April 30) at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington! The theme of our annual SPRUNG show is GAAAAAAAMES!!! Mostly tabletop and RPG games, the traditional recreation of our people (the allergy-suffering, vitamin-D-deficient, squinting-at-the-sun people) during the Spring, which as we all know is full of POLLEN that is actively trying to kill us with each and every breath!

You can block out a lot of those allergens AND make yourself more likely to win a prize from Captain Slinky by doing ONE SIMPLE THING that you’re probably doing already – WEAR A MASK! That’s right! See, Captain Slinky has a lovely new “WHEEL OF FATE” that he will be selecting random people from the crowds to spin for prizes! And Captain Slinky is just naturally drawn to like-minded folk who found that their seasonal allergies were MUCH MILDER all through 2019 to 2022 because they wore a mask!

Are we REQUIRING you to wear a mask? No. Will it make you more likely to get a chance at spinning that wheel? YER DURNED TOOTIN’ IT WILL!

Roll for Initiative

ODDMALL IS LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD DUNGEON MASTERS! So here’s the deal – The fine folks at Dirt Cheap Dungeons sent us a box of product that I’d REALLY like to show off at Oddmall in our Gaming Area, but I have no one available to show it off properly! So what I’m looking for is somebody that could run a few good old-fashioned Dungeon Crawl “Encounters” (like 4th Edition, remember that?). If you’re interested, please email us at csoddmall@gmail.com thanks! We will be eternally greatful!

Cascade View Drive & The Secret of FREE PARKING (On Saturday)

YES the Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird is a FREE event, and YES we have FREE PARKING… BUT! There is another event at the fairgrounds on Saturday that doesn’t love it’s customers as much as Captain Slinky loves all of you, and they’re making THEIR customers PAY FOR PARKING on Saturday! Lucky for you, we have an official BACK-UP PLAN!

Please refer to this handy map of The Fairgrounds. Please excuse the crudity of this model. I didn’t have time to build it to scale or paint it. But here you see that if you just exit the main highway at the Cascade View Drive, you can slip right in to the YELLOW LOT where parking is FREEEEEE!!! There will be no “Inside-The-Fairgrounds Parking” on Saturday, you will HAVE to park in that Yellow Lot and walk. Handicap Parking should be available and clearly marked by the time the show starts, The Fairgrounds is still working it out.

If you would like to get full instructions on how to get to Oddmall April 29-30, check out our all-new SPRUNG 2 OFFICIAL LANDING PAGE!

You’ll also find a list of all our vendors, game makers, food trucks, how to win “Valuable” prizes and more! Check it out!

SPRUNG GAMES!

If there’s one thing we Sprung folk love, it’s the indoorsiest of indoor activities – TABLETOP GAMES. Board Games, Miniatures Games, CCG, RPG… we love them all! And now, for the second year in a row, the Captain Slinky Presents Oddmall Emporium of The Weird will be hosting a GAMING EVENT! We have at least 220 feet of tables – possibly MORE – dedicated to Tabletop Board Games, game makers, game publishers and gaming accessories. People selling their old games, people demonstrating new games, people trying to drum up interest for their games on Kickstarter, LOTS AND LOTS OF GAMES! And any spaces NOT being used for that? Will be used for playing MORE GAMES!!!

Here’s a sampling of the folks that will be setting up and showing you what they got:

  • Let’s Play Cafe (Local Game Store) is THE local game shop! A great mix of board games, CCG, Miniatures and Arcade Games! We can’t have a gaming convention and NOT invite the FLGS!
  • Nerd Wood Designs is coming all the way from Oregon to be with us and offer a wide assortment of gaming accessories and cool fantasy signage!
  • Blue Dragon Dice hoards and collects shiny click-clacks of unusually whimsical fashion! These dice really stand out and make everyone at the table go “Whoa, where did you get those DICE?!?”
  • Game Cultivation brings with them a wide assortment of gaming accessories that ALWAYS draw a crowd!
  • Thing 12 Games – Dice of Crowns and Click Click Boom – Two of the greatest quick-play games we’ve ever played!
  • Counter Clockwork Games is the creator/publisher of one of our favorite games, The Shadow Over Westminster – the only board game I know with a twist ending every time!
  • Briarpatchpumpkin creates incredible Magic Items and Gaming Assets that liven up any gaming environment!
  • Weird Works LLC has artwork and stickers and tarot decks and gaming stuff – they’re new, I haven’t experienced any of their stuff yet!
  • Pie Slice Dice makes quality, precision dice that you can really feel the difference! You have to hold them for yourself in order to experience the luxury!
  • Duncecap Games is a local publisher of great “In-Between” games that the whole gaming group can love!
  • Studio Tophat is going to be your new favorite place to be – fun, cheap, creative and all about spreading the love of gaming!
  • Woodstock Games makes a new game called “Dice Fights” that I am kind of obsessed with – I love it when a game looks like it was as fun to make as it is to play!
  • The Doodle Realms is completely new to us, and it looks awesome! The type of creativity and devotion to an idea we love!
  • Bored Dragon Woodworking makes some absolutely wonder gaming accessories from wood, an absolute essential addition to any game group!

If you are interested in a reserved spot at one of these tables for YOUR playtesting, demoing, or even if it’s just to try and sell your giant pile of “We Played It Once And Now We Don’t Play It Any More” games – I’m looking at YOU, “Dead Of Winter” – you can sign up at https://form.jotform.com/220925585534057 A 10’x10′ space is just $75 ($200 the standard vendor booth fee because I LOVE GAMES) and you could split it with a buddy if you like – just get in here and connect with your fellow gamers!
